Snake Finder provides general, educational information compiled from third-party data and public-health sources. It is not professional, scientific, veterinary, or medical advice, and it must not be relied on to decide whether a snake is dangerous, safe to approach, or safe to handle in a real encounter.

No identification guarantee

Species presence is derived from third-party occurrence records that may be incomplete, delayed, or inaccurate. The absence of a species from a county page does not mean it is absent from that area, and its presence does not mean it is present at your exact location. Photos and descriptions are aids, not a substitute for expert identification. Never handle or approach a snake to identify it.

Safety and medical disclaimer

Nothing on this site is a substitute for emergency services or professional medical care. If you or someone else is bitten, do not wait and do not rely on this site to assess risk. Contact the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222 or call 911 immediately. Do not attempt to catch, kill, or capture the snake.
